Description
Steel Wire Rod is a rolled product of round cross-section manufactured by hot rolling and supplied in coils. It is a semi-finished product for further processing and is widely used in various industries.
Production Technology
The manufacturing process includes the following stages:
1. Billet Preparation: Steel billet (bloom) is heated in continuous furnaces.
2. Hot Rolling: The billet is sequentially rolled through stands of a rolling mill.
3. Groove Forming: Gradual reduction of diameter to the required size.
4. Cooling: Controlled cooling on special cooling conveyors.
5. Coiling: Automatic coiling of finished product into coils.
6. Packaging: Strapping of coils for transportation and storage.
Characteristics and Assortment
• Diameters: 5.0; 5.5; 6.0; 6.3; 7.0; 8.0; 9.0; 10.0 mm.
• Rolling Accuracy: increased (B) and ordinary (V).
• Curvature: not more than 2 mm per 1 meter of length.
• Coil Mass: 800-1500 kg (up to 2000 kg by agreement).
• Steel Grades: St0, St1, St2, St3, 35GS, 45G2.
Advantages
• Versatile Application in various industries.
• High Plasticity and workability.
• Processability for subsequent processing.
• Cost-Effective production and transportation.
• Wide Assortment of diameters and steel grades.
• Stable Quality and mechanical properties.
Areas of Application
• Wire Production: by drawing through dies.
• Fastener Manufacturing: nails, screws, bolts, wood screws.
• Construction: reinforcement of structures, meshes.
• Mechanical Engineering: fasteners, springs.
• Electrode Production: welding electrodes.
• Rope Production: steel ropes and cables.
Normative Documentation (GOST Standards)
Main standards regulating the production of wire rod:
GOST 30136-95 – "Wire rod made of ordinary quality carbon steel. Technical specifications"
• Defines technical requirements for wire rod.
• Establishes assortment and mechanical properties.
• Regulates acceptance rules and test methods.
GOST 535-2005 – "Rolled steel products, long and shaped, made of ordinary quality carbon steel. General technical specifications"
• Establishes general requirements for steel quality.
• Defines methods of chemical analysis.
• Regulates steel grades and their chemical composition.
Additional Normative Documents:
• GOST 2590-2006 – Hot-rolled steel round bars.
• GOST 7566-94 – Rolled products and further processed products.
• GOST 750-92 – Low-carbon steel wire.
Classification by Surface Quality:
• 1st Group – without surface defects.
• 2nd Group with permissible surface defects.
